An Indemnity is issued by National Penn at your request when goods arrive at the port of destination before the related documents. An Indemnity can be issued in the form of a Steamship Guarantee or an Airway Release.
A Steamship Guarantee is used in the case of an ocean shipment, while an Airway Release is used in the case of air shipment; however, both offer the following benefits:
- demurrage charges are avoided while the buyer awaits documents.
- delays in receiving goods are avoided.
